Swim Lessons

We finally got around to taking swim lessons this year.  I have been "meaning" to sign the kids up for several years now.  Oops. :)

Jake is doing very well on his own, but I really wanted him to learn the "correct" way to swim.  Ella Kate isn't quite as confident in the water, so I really just wanted her to be able to navigate the deep water without floaties if necessary.

Mission Accomplished!!  They did great!  We took 2 weeks - the first week we went to Camp Mary Elizabeth in the morning and the second week, we went to the Westside Club in the afternoon.

At Camp Mary Elizabeth, they were pleasantly surprised to see their buddies Emma, Morgan, and Anna when they got there!  I think that really helped Ella Kate out - she was very excited to get to play with Morgan each day!

Saddle Ridge Ranch's been a while....and I have truly missed blogging.  I love going back and reading old posts and it makes me sad to know that I've missed documenting so many moments of their little lives lately.

So, on that note, I am going to attempt to get back on the wagon.  I've got a lot of reasons to these days!!

This is going to be a practice post of sorts. :)

I got a little "put-out" with Blogger.  It never wanted to do what I asked with these darn pictures.  I decided today that I would post picture-less if I had to, but it seems there have been some changes and they are agreeing with me. :)  hehe

So, here goes....

VBS this year at AMRBC was Saddle Ridge Ranch.  I always think they won't be able to top the theme and songs from the year before, but they always do a great job.  The kids loved the cowboy get-ups they were able to wear each night!  I helped with check-in this year and was not able to help with Preschool Crafts like I normally do.  That was a little sad for me, so I think next year I'd like to go back to that - or at least something "hands-on" with the kids.  I missed them!!

All smiles for Parents' Night!

D5 Baseball 2010

Jake played baseball this year for the first time since he was 3!  I have been nudging him to try it again each year, but he was resistant.  This year he agreed, and I signed him up (and sold a kidney to pay for it!) only for him to decide he did not want to play.  Oh no buddy.....once you are paid for, there is no turning back!

So glad we made him play....he loved it!  He was hesitant at first, and had to actually learn the rules of the game and exactly how to swing, but he ended up doing a great job.  He was able to play on the team with his 2 best buds, Brycen & Braeden, so I'm sure that helped out.

Jake entertained us at several games by completly ignoring the advice of his coaches (STOP!) and continuing to run around the bases, as he was being chased by the opposing player holding the ball.  He would dodge them, and run completely out of the way, but he usually ended up making it to home safely.  It was like a clown act on the field!! By the end of the season, we had convinced him he had to listen to the coaches, so he stopped that for the most part.

When he was 3, he played T-Ball in Woodruff.  We enjoyed playing there, but this year it was extra-nice that every game was played at the Reidville ball field which is about a 2 minute drive from our house.  I LOVE being that close to things - it really helps with my time-management issues.  :)

They received an award at their last game.  I'm tempted to call it a necklace, but I'm sure they would quickly correct me on that.  :)  It actually looks kind of a like a dog-tag but is really cute.
The Awards Party was at Pizza Inn.
Jake always asks to have his picture made with "the coach". :)  Makes me laugh....
