4K Graduation

This year, we decided to let Jake repeat 4 Year Old Kindergarten because of his very late birthday. We felt he was not socially and emotionally ready for 5K. We are SO glad that we did! He has been a different child this year (in our eyes!). He has loved his class and his teacher!

Tonight he had his (2nd) 4K Graduation. This one was a little harder for me. Last year I knew that it wasn't really his 4K graduation, just a dress rehearsal! This time he's really going to Kindergarten!

They marched in playing their kazoos to "The Saints Go Marching In". Too cute!

After they sang, they went out to put on their caps and gowns. All of our boys had their own little fan club (of sisters and best girl friends) right as they left....chanting their names and all! This is Jake's reaction! :)
The graduates come in!

Recital Day is Here!

Go back about 9 months to September when Ella Kate went to her first dance class. She loved it then but we weren't real sure if she would continue to enjoy it or if she would even participate in the recital. I guess we don't realize how much she has changed because, girl, she loved the stage!

She talked about her 'cital' for weeks and couldn't wait for the day! She called her school program her 'singing cital' and her dance program her 'dancing cital'. We were really lucky and her class' costume was pink and sparkly! Exactly what she would have picked!

Her friends Brynn & Ms. Summer Laney came to watch her - and they happened to save the day while they were there!! While waiting for everyone to arrive (Jake had a soccer game that morning so Michael took him while I headed to the recital), I decided it would be good to make sure the camera was ready and working properly. Why? Not sure...I've never checked it before. I think I was really bored...and God planted the idea in my head!!

Low and behold!!! It would NOT record!! We've had a little trouble out of it in the past (and I've even (wrongly) accused Michael of not knowing how to work it correctly!!oops!!) but just this week it decided to quit altogether. I was about to have a meltdown when Summer remembered that she had her video camera in the car from the day before. Thank the good Lord above that she ran to her car and retrieved it right in time!! God was looking out for mama as the camera had exactly 8 minutes left to record. I taped her 3 dances and as I clicked it off after the last one, it read "0 minutes" left!! Such a relief! :)

What is it with me and cameras lately?!? Oh, BTW, my camera was returned to me in record time but with a hefty price tag of $211!!! And for what you say....the kind technician noted that "it was dirty" and he cleaned it. Hmmm....
This is the our cousin, Lizzie. She was presented with a spirit award in honor of the little girl who was accidentally shot by her uncle/grandfather/not sure earlier this year. The little girl was in her class before she passed away. Yea Lizzie!!
They did 3 tap, one ballet, and I think the 3rd might have been some hip/hop? I'm not a dancer so I could be very wrong!! :)

This is my very favorite picture. It perfectly captures her attitude towards the stage these days. Bring it on and I'll strut my stuff!!!

At the end of the recital, Marie called each class on stage separately and let the daddies come down and bring them flowers. If I could just take Jake's head out of this picture, you'd see Michael giving Ella Kate a kiss. She was tickled to get her pink roses from daddy!! She was just as tickled to get a red rose from Uncle Dave!!

Nothing warms a mama's heart like a daddy loving his little girl!!

Thanks Mimi & Pop for coming to watch!! It was their very first dance recital!

Ella Kate's first roses!

The End of the 3's

The 3 year old classes had their end of the year program on Friday morning. Ella Kate was so excited!! She loves to sing and, lately, loves to sing with an audience! All of the kids did such a great job singing and with their speaking parts. Ella Kate was very, very sad not to have a part, so Ms. Laura (whom she loves!!) let her have a little line at the end... "Bye Bye Now!" It was just enough to make her day!

These two....what more can I say? :)

Ella Kate is already sad about leaving Ms. Misty's class. She has been a GREAT teacher! She understands the needs of a true drama queen! :)

Ella Kate has had a wonderful year at school and we are both sad to see it end!

Cinco de Mayo

On Michael's birthday we celebrated at our local Mexican restaurant....only fitting for Cinco de Mayo!!
My sister was kind enough to secretly let the waiter know that he was having a birthday.
Famous last words before walking in the door... "I am NOT wearing a sombrero!" ;)
Check him out.... If you know him well....that is NOT a happy grin.

Dessert was on the house!

We even got free tshirts for the occasion!

Happy 35th my dear!!

For the Record...

Steroids turn my 5 year old into a lunatic.

No jokes.

The nice lady who caught him jumping off tables at church agrees with me.

I apologize in advance to his teachers.

They do not deserve the torture I am sending their way tomorrow.

But I absolutely deserve the 3 hour break I will receive.

I absolutely cannot take this for 10 days. I think we will taper off soon. Oozy eyes or not.

They should put a warning right on the large print. Like I have time to read the fine print on the insert folded 3 times tucked safely inside the bag.

Good thing there's Google. I might never know a thing!

Pray we make it through the night with our sanity in tack.

Pray we don't run out of food tonight...he's eaten everything in our house. Apparently that is a side effect as well.

Any others I need to know about? Maybe I should dig that insert out of the trash after all. If only it wasn't underneath a poopy diaper and a booger ridden tissue......

That is the noise you make when your camera's flash refuses to pop open. You make it again when it continues to refuse and then gives you an error message. You make it once again, and much more loudly, when you have to mail it off to Canon to have it repaired.

AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!! Is the noise you make when they email to let you know the total repair charges will be $211.20!!

I have always been the biggest Canon fan. I had a 35mm Canon for 8 years and had zero problems. I have my Canon Digital Rebel xTi for 18 months and it's already broken.

Talk about frustrating.

I included a nice little note with it begging for lightning speed. I mean, in the next 2 weeks I have K4 graduation, a birthday, 2 end of the year school programs, 1 end of the year church program, a very first dance recital, numerous soccer games..... The list goes on and on. It is NOT the time of year to be without your camera.

I also sent a letter expressing my strong opinion to Mr. Adachi, President & CEO. Who wants to bet he doesn't reply? ;) Made me feel better at least. I think I'll send another while I wait to get my camera back.

Oh need to dwell on it.

I'll just have very boring posts until it returns.

What's been happening at the Waddell household?

Ella Kate went for her 4 year old check up last week. I really wish I had a picture of the poor child with 4 bandaids on her legs and one on her finger. She milked it well too. She grew several inches but didn't gain a single pound this year. Imagine that...if I ate bread and sugar for a year straight I think I'd probably gain a few! Overall, she appears healthy but we still have the pooping/eating/pottying issue that is just one big vicious cycle. I don't think the doctors get just how limited this child's "approved foods" list is. If you've never had a picky eater, you just don't know how difficult it is. You can preach all day long about offering it over and over and eventually they'll bite, yada, yada, yada. I'm sorry, but not so. We did the same things with Jake as Ella Kate and he eats everything in sight. It really does depend on your child. I don't know...sometimes I just have to not think about the whole issue. It really exhausts me.

Jake is having terrible allergy issues. He is really a sad site. His little eyes ooze yellow all day and night. I took him to his allergist Friday and he verified that it definitely not infected, just nasty allergies. The baby is on zyrtec, singulair, AND claritin. Mercy. Seems that would control it! They did give him a steroid to calm it down and it seems to be helping a lot. He even broke out while playing soccer today and he hasn't reacted to the grass in a long time.

On a happier note... :) I can't WAIT until the Women of Joy conference in 2 weeks!! I'm going with all my girlfriends and it is going to be GREAT!! We don't get very much girl-time so an entire weekend spending time listening to all the great speakers and bands, eating, shopping, eating, staying up all night (YES Tracy!!)....doesn't get much better!

I'll keep you posted on my camera saga. Hopefully this week it will appear due to some very gracious repairmen!

Oh yeah, and Hooters has kids eat free on Sundays. Rush on over there after church tomorrow for Sunday lunch. ;)
