North Pole

Can you tell what they're doing? They're driving to the North Pole, of course. My kids are some of the most imaginative ones I've ever seen. Of course, they're the only ones I've seen this much of. :) They could all do this for all I know!!

They rarely play with toys the way they're meant to. They mostly make up elaborate scenerios and act them out. It's pretty entertaining to watch! It makes me glad they're so close in age and have a built in playmate. Kind of makes up for that first year when I thought I might DIE...literally.

It reminds me so much of when my sister and I were little. We played "make-believe" every day (Little House on the Prairie was our favorite game!). We didn't have a room full of toys like kids these days do. I guess it just goes to show that it doesn't matter what kind of expensive, elaborate toys you have....your imagination is always more fun!

So Thankful

I'm a succer for a gift. Little or big...they all make me feel special.

My boss got me this today for "Administrative Professionals Day".

It just made me think how thankful I am to, first of all, HAVE a job right now, and second of all, LOVE my job! I enjoy getting up each morning and look forward to the day ahead.

Now THAT's something to be thankful for!

Go Metros!

Soccer season has officially begun. I love playing Upward because it's only one practice and one game per week and it only lasts 6 weeks!! I know when they get older my life will probably be consumed with practices and carting them around to games, but for now, it's the perfect amount.

Jake is on Mrs. Tracy and Mrs. Summer's team and the boys are having a great time playing together. They do have a little advantage in that they all played last year. There is such a difference in them from one year to the next...especially Zachary! Last year he was picking daisies and this year he's right up there with the best of them! :)

Jake loves any and all sports so he's thrilled to be back on the field!

I got some really good action shots of Jake...and Mr. Jamie and his dead bird whistle! ;)

It's hard to tell but Jake is right there in the middle and just missed the goal...although he did make several others!

Sunday Afternoon at Uncle Gary's

Some Lazy Weekend Fishing

Michael has been fishing several times this week at this certain lake nearby and caught some pretty big fish.

He asked me if I'd like to go with him on Saturday afternoon. Weeelllll, I don't really have anything else to do so I guess that would be okay. Plus, I do have Twilight to read and I haven't been able to find time to get into it yet. I agreed. Jake decided later that he would like to go too, so we dropped Ella Kate off at Mimi's and headed for the lake. Nothing better in my eyes. Sun, lake, good book, both of my men.... ;)
Jake surprised me by actually being able to throw the fishing rod....and not hook my head.(Michael tells me it is called casting but I'll stick with my version)
Apparently Jake gets bored pretty quickly with fishing and this is where he ended up. Still looks good to me!

So by the end of day, Jake has a renewed interest in fishing but is also getting pretty hot. We had to turn a little redneck. He and Michael had a throwing/casting contest and Jake won (of course).
I had to take pictures of the tongue....such a little Neal.

And, by the way, the book is SUPER. If you like to read, you would LOVE it!! Fishing (aka reading books at the lake while husband thinks I'm enjoying the fish) may be my new hobby. :)

Greenville Zoo

Last week the kids' school had "Zoo Week" or so to speak. :) Each age group took a turn at the zoo. Ella Kate's class was scheduled to go to the Greenville Zoo on Wednesday and Jake's class was scheduled for Friday, same place. I had planned to take them each separately....I know, I'm way too accomodating for them, but I know that they each really thrive on one-on-one time and I knew they would enjoy being with their classes.

On Wednesday morning, on the way to drop Jake off and meet Summer, Jake decided that he would rather go that day and not on Friday with his class. I tried to reason with him and explain that when Friday came, he would be very disappointed. We ALL tried to reason with him.

Nope. He wasn't budging.

So off we went to the Greenville Zoo. Don't tell Zachary, but Jake and Brynn really had a good time together. I think I spotted some hand holding going on. Hil-ar-ious. Especially when you know that they fight more often than not.

I tell you, these 5 year olds crack me up. I do remember having a little boyfriend when I was 5 though - Mark Waddell - but you've heard that story before. :)

Look at all those precious are they!

We had never seen an elephant eating his breakfast before! We came in right as they all started moving about. We even got to hear the monkeys singing their morning song.

And by the way, Jake never once said he wanted to go to the zoo on Friday. Not even when all of his friends were gone from school. In fact, I think he decided he'd like to be the office helper every day from now on. He had a great time being the door-opener, hall-monitor, join each class for snack and playground helper. And don't forget those walkie-talkies....he kept us all informed of the happenings in the halls. It did save me from 2 zoo trips in 1 week and from taking 2 days off. I can't complain. :)

Easter Day

The preschool choir sang in the service on Easter morning and they did a GREAT job!! I think this is the first time BOTH of my kids actually sang. They've both STOOD on the stage before, but one or the other would get stage fright. This time they both sang their hearts out! They all did!!

After church, we went to Nana's for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. Nana's house is fun because she lets the adults hunt eggs too! And she has great prizes. :)

Ella Kate got a splinter while we were there! Daddy had to "work" on it for a while.

The kids are ready to hunt!

Uncle Gary helps hand out the prizes...the cash!

After Nana's we headed to Granny & Papa Neal's for dinner and more egg hunting! At Granny's house we hunted for REAL eggs - that was a first!
