Carriage Ride

Tonight we took the kids to Fountain Inn to take a Christmas Carriage Ride.

The last time we went was 2 years ago when Jake was almost 3 1/2 and Ella Kate was 20 months. I tell you their ages because we also took our friends' children - Ty who had just turned 3 and Micah who was 15 months. Boy, do I wish I had pictures of that! (it was pre-digital camera era!)

You should have seen Michael and I sitting on the bench each holding an infant with 2 3-year olds between us! Quite a sight! :) It was fun though and the kids were all extremely well behaved and really enjoyed it!

So this year.....we picked a great night to go! There was not a line when we arrived so we walked right onto our carriage and got the front row!

I must not be the only crazy mama that brings her camera everywhere b/c the carriage helper quickly offered to take a picture when he saw me holding it!
It was quite chilly tonight, so it was a good thing there wasn't a line. By the time the ride was over, we were nearly frozen! The carriage starts on Main Street but turns into an older subdivision right off of it. The houses in it go all out decorating and they even give out prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as well as one for having the most "kid-friendly" decorations. They have lit candles lining every street. The kids really enjoyed seeing all the lights this year!
Jake even got to "drive" the horse!! Our horse's name was Marcus - "Giddy-up Marcus!"
When we were done, we visited with Santa for a little bit. Ella Kate was brave enough to stand on his sleigh, but still no touching him. :) Jake gave him his usual list and then added "real drums" to it like he has a few times. Santa casually raised his eyebrows and told him that he'd have to check with mom and dad to see how they felt about that. Smart Santa!
Great picture but I think Santa fell asleep. ;)
(Best thing about this Santa....they let you use your camera!)

We LOVE going to Ft.Inn to see all the houses decorated up. I have been going practically every year since they have been doing it. The boys biggest highlight cause they don't care about all the pretty decorations they just love to go and look to see who has won 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the other awards... I do have to say we have never done the carriage rides and had no clue Santa was there.. We might have to check that out this year. But now after we go and look at all the pretty lights there we hit 418 and head on to Pelzer to see the mill village lighted up and the guy w/ the ferris wheel in the yard and all the light people... I am crossing my fingers we will be doing that this Friday or Sunday night....
