Saturday we were in the Fall mood so we came home and carved our pumpkin.
The kids had been waiting for a couple of days and were getting anxious.
They'll get 2 pumpkins at school in the pumpkin patch later on, so we'll carve again closer to Halloween.
I think this was the first year we've carved our pumpkin outdoors. I guess it's always been too cold (or either dark!).
Pumpkin carving is only fun for the kids while you're cleaning out the goo! Since mom and dad have to do the actual carving, they get bored kind of quickly!
Ella Kate did get brave and stick her hand in the pumpkin this year. That's a first!!
We (I) decided to try one of those carving "kits" like they sell in Target or WalMart that make neat designs on your pumpkin (as opposed to the traditional scary faces). A friend told me that they weren't all that hard if you used the tools that came with them.
It turned out really well!! We went for a simpler design and I think next time we'll be ready for the more complicated ones!!
